What comes into the workshop

Everything from a quick puncture to a full strip and rebuild. Prices cover labour, plus cables on a service and a new tube on a puncture. Anything else your bike needs is quoted on top and always agreed with you first. Not sure what yours needs? Bring it in for a free safety check and I'll tell you straight.

  • £70 if your brakes are hydraulic — both bled with fresh fluid

  • Sealant top-up — £10 a wheel, sealant included
  • Rim tape and valve replacement

  • Custom wheel builds, per wheel

24 hrs typical

What's included, and what isn't. Prices cover my labour plus a couple of parts as standard:

  • Cables — gear and brake cables are included in the standard and full services.
  • Inner tube — included in a puncture repair. Sealant is included in a tubeless top-up.
  • Everything else is extra — brake pads, tyres, chains, cassettes, gear hangers, rear mechs, bearings, bottom brackets and the like. I price them separately and show you before anything gets fitted, so you'll never get a bill you haven't already agreed to.

And the rest:

  • E-bikes — add £30 to any service. Motors, wiring and torque checks take longer.
  • Anything not listed — £40 an hour, quoted up front once I've seen the bike.
  • Standard service is £45 with new gear and brake cables fitted. If your bike runs hydraulic brakes it's £70, which covers bleeding both of them with fresh fluid. Either way it's included in the full service.
02 · The route

From broken to back out

Four stops, no surprises. You'll know the price before a spanner touches the bike.

Stop 01

Tell me what's wrong

Fill in the form or send a WhatsApp with a photo. A short description is usually enough for me to know what I'm dealing with.

Stop 02

Get a price and a slot

I come back with a fixed price and the first slot I can take it. We agree a time for you to drop the bike off at the workshop.

Stop 03

The work gets done

If I find something else while it's on the stand, I message you before doing it. Nothing gets added to the bill without a yes.

Stop 04

Back on the road

I message you the moment it's ready to collect. It comes back cleaned and test-ridden, with a note of what was done and what to keep an eye on next.

03 · The mechanic

One pair of hands

I'm Darren Moores. Every bike that comes in is worked on by me, on my bench, start to finish. No queue of juniors, no jobs passed around, no guessing about who touched what.

That's the whole idea behind the name. A repair should buy you months of riding, not a fortnight before the same fault comes back. So I'd rather spend an extra half hour getting a bearing right than hand something back that's only technically fixed.

I'm self-taught. No Cytech certificate on the wall — just years of stripping bikes down, working out what went wrong and putting them back together properly. I'd rather be straight with you about that than pretend otherwise. If a job is beyond what I'll take on, I'll say so and point you at someone who can do it, rather than have a go and charge you for it.

Most of my work comes from Farnborough, Aldershot, Fleet and Camberley — commuters keeping a bike alive through winter, families getting kids' bikes ready for the spring, and riders heading out to the Blackwater Valley and Alice Holt trails.

04 · Book

Get it booked in

Tell me the bike and the problem. I'll reply with a price and the next slot, usually same day.

I'll only use your details to reply about this repair.
